A series that explores and reclaims opposing feminine archetypes through sculptural works, flat woven tapestries, and live performance. Layered, textural, and symbolic, the works also evoke the spectres of climate change and impending ecological crises, encouraging viewers to pursue a different relationship with wild forces of nature.
Incorporating cut up maps, hand-painted paper, lace, plastic, yarn, and raw wool roving, this series references maritime navigation, the mythic character Penelope, and the domestic art of waiting. These chunky textured tapestries subtly evoke colonialist expansion and exploration, while sparking dialogue about the nature of home (planetary, domestic, shared, and private).
