Now back in Israel, I have a chance to share images & recent artworks from my monthlong artist in residency at Can Serrat, in the powerful Montserrat mountains of Catalonia.

My project focused on Federico Garcia Lorca's notion of duende, the indefinable quality that bursts forth in inspired moments, particularly flamenco. Traveling in Andalucia before the residency, I gathered flamenco inspiration and collage materials, salvaging small items from flea markets, thrift shops, and sidewalks. My muses, two old black and white photographs I found in a flea market in Sevilla, were toted on top of my backpack, in buses, on trains, until I reached El Bruc, the town that is home to Can Serrat.
I was extremely fortunate to work with/ share space with such beautiful and talented artists at the residency:
Megan Broughton http://cargocollective.com/meganbroughton
Becca Cusworth http://rcusworth.com/home.html
Ega Carreon
Clare McDonald
